“South Asia Youth Network” (SAYN) is been launched in Bangkok on 22 November 2023 as we mark the 10th Anniversary of Asia Democracy Network (ADN), 75th Anniversary of Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), 30th Anniversary of Vienna Convention…

Anthony Vinoth the Executive Director of Human Rights Hub signed the charter along with Kashif Aslam from Pakistan, Aparna Prabhu and Shruti Priya from India, Kiran Shrestha from Nepal… The Charter is attached: Preamble: In December 2022, a collective vision emerged among few friends in South Asia to address the pressing challenges facing South Asian youth. Recognizing the dormant state of the SAARC body and escalating issues within our respective nations, we, the founding members from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India, and Nepal, established the SOUTH ASIA YOUTH NETWORK. Article 1: Democracy and Rights The SOUTH ASIA YOUTH NETWORK upholds the principles enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and recognizes the interdependence of democracy and fundamental rights. Our commitment is to the establishment of just, inclusive, and democratic societies within South Asia. Article 2: Solidarity and Advocacy In the spirit of solidarity, we commit to standing with those facing reprisals and atrocities within the region and beyond. The SOUTH ASIA YOUTH NETWORK is dedicated to advocating for human rights, social justice, and democracy through collective action and shared advocacy efforts. Article 3: Collaboration The SOUTH ASIA YOUTH NETWORK is committed to collaboration, not only within South Asia but also with youth networks across Asia and beyond. Recognizing the interconnectedness of global challenges, we seek to foster cooperation and mutual support to amplify our collective impact. Article 4: Inclusivity and Diversity Founded on the principles of inclusivity, the SOUTH ASIA YOUTH NETWORK values diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and identities within our community. We strive to create a space where every voice is heard and valued, irrespective of geographical or cultural differences. Article 5: Empowerment and Education The SOUTH ASIA YOUTH NETWORK is dedicated to fostering educational initiatives that empower youth with knowledge and skills essential for active participation in shaping a democratic and just society. We commit to providing resources and opportunities for continuous learning and growth. In witness whereof, we, the founding members, solemnly affirm and adopt this charter, pledging to uphold the principles it enshrines in our pursuit of a just, equitable, and democratic future for South Asian youth.
